Rammy Narula created the street photography series Platform 10, a collection of images capturing events on platform 10 of Hua Lamphong train station. This work clearly demonstrates his mastery of street photography in searching for and discovering fascinating scenes of strangers’ lives in open spaces. However, his series titled ‘For My Grandmother’ reveals another side of his work. In this project, Rammy journeys back to interpret what happens in an intimate space, his family, and deeply touches the meaning of loss.
Instead of presenting his grandmother’s relationship with the family or the grief of her passing, Rammy chooses to convey ordinary events that could be familiar memories for anyone who has a family like his. He uses what appears to be a representation of his grandmother, seamlessly blending with everything surrounding his family.
Whether it is a white curtain draping over his son, another portion blowing in the wind like the edge of a sari to reveal a wide open space, a white bird spreading its wings to fly away, or even his self-portrait bathed in light, as if an inner realization has occurred—moving beyond the loss right in front of him into a space of emotion and deep, inexpressible self-understanding.
Rammy Narula is an internationally well-known street photographer and a member of the Street Photo Thailand and Burn My Eye collectives. His series, Platform 10, was published as a photobook by Peanut Press in New York. Currently based in Bangkok, Rammy conducts photography workshops alongside his ongoing photography practice.

แรมมี่ นารูลา สร้างชุดงานภาพถ่ายสตรีทอย่าง “Platform 10” ภาพชุดเหตุการณ์ในชานชาลาที่ 10 ของสถานีรถไฟหัวลำโพง งานชิ้นนี้แสดงออกถึงฝีมือการถ่ายภาพสตรีทที่ชัดเจนของเขาในการ ‘ค้นหา’ และ ‘ค้นพบ’ ฉากชีวิตที่น่าหลงใหลของคนแปลกหน้าในพื้นที่เปิด หากแต่งานชุดที่ชื่อ For My Grandmother คืองานอีกด้านหนึ่งที่แรมมี่เดินทางย้อนกลับไปตีความสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นในพื้นที่ปิด ครอบครัว และการได้สัมผัสถึงความหมายของการสูญเสียอย่างลึกซึ้ง
แทนที่ภาพถ่ายจะบรรยายถึงภาพความสัมพันธ์ของยายที่มีต่อครอบครัว หรือความเศร้าโศกของการจากไป แรมมี่เลือกถ่ายทอดเหตุการณ์ธรรมดาที่อาจเป็นภาพจำ และภาพซ้ำของใครก็ตามที่มีครอบครัวเช่นเดียวกับเขา หยิบสิ่งที่คล้ายจะเป็นภาพแทนของยาย ผูกผสานเป็นเนื้อเดียวกันกับสิ่งต่างๆ ที่โอบล้อมครอบครัวของแรมมี่เอาไว้
ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ผ้าม่านสีขาวที่คลุมตัวลูกชาย และที่คล้ายกับชายผ้าส่าหรีถูกพัดตามแรงลมจนเห็นถึงพื้นที่โล่งกว้าง, นกสีชาวตัวหนึ่งที่กางปีกบินห่างออกไป, หรือกระทั่งภาพพอร์ตเทรตของตัวเองที่มีแสงฉาบเข้ามา อันราวกับเกิดการตระหนักรู้บางอย่างที่เลยข้ามความสูญเสียตรงหน้า ก้าวผ่านไปยังพื้นที่ของอารมณ์ และความเข้าใจในตัวตนส่วนลึกอันยากจะอธิบายเป็นคำพูดได้
แรมมี่ นารูลา ช่างภาพสตรีทที่มีผลงานมากมายระดับนานาชาติ เขาเป็นสมาชิกของกลุ่มช่างภาพ Street Photo Thailand และ Burn My Eye ผลงานที่ชื่อ Platform 10 ของเขา ถูกจัดพิมพ์กับสำนักพิมพ์ Peanut Press ในกรุงนิวยอร์ค ปัจจุบันแรมมี่ใช้ชีวิตอยู่ในกรุงเทพฯ เขาเปิดเวิร์คช็อปสอนถ่ายภาพ และยังคงสร้างสรรค์ผลงานภาพถ่ายอย่างต่อเนื่อง
