Beyond the romance and colonialism of travel photography and photo journalism is another Kathmandu, a valley of unseen things.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are no earthquake scars, but the people in Pahparn Sirima Chaipreechawit\u2019s singular vision of Kathmandu seem trapped, lost in an ancient maze, chasing their own shadow in a danse macabre. She has achieved this truth not through academic study of Nepali socio-political conflicts, but via some instinctive process of psychic osmosis.<\/p>\n

In Kathmandu, she says, \u201cI could feel myself becoming inextricably absorbed into the ancient bricks and stone.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Pahparn Sirima Chaipreechawit (b. 1988 in Bangkok) graduated from Bangkok University Film School but soon turned her focus to still photography, exhibiting regularly since 2011. Best known for her work in black and white, with a classical sense of beauty and composition, intriguing perspectives, technical finesse with light and shade and intense tonality, which has become her signature.<\/p>\n
