As he researched lessons for his students, he could only find the work of Western masters for them to learn from. There were no serious texts on Thai photography. This is his motivation for initiating, in 2011, the project to seek out Thai masters of photography.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Rediscovering Forgotten Thai Masters of Photography\u2019<\/strong> is the fruit of many years of Manit\u2019s labour of love, to seek out and gather the work of seven Thai masters of photography, whose work vary greatly in style and substance. Some of this work has never been shown to the public before. One of them, Buddhadasa, is a revered sage and monk who used photography as a medium for the Buddha\u2019s teachings. Two are better known as celebrated writers, Rong Wong-savun and M.L. Toy Xoomsai (who had taught Rong photography). One of them, Pornsak Sakdaenprai, still had to rely on sunlight for printing and enlarging when he opened his photo studio because, in 1959, his remote hometown in Northeast Thailand had not yet entered the age of electricity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Photo Bangkok Festival, in concert with the Bangkok University Gallery (BUG) and Kathmandu Photo Gallery, is proud to play a part in supporting this project to record Thai photographic history, as a valuable and inspiring resource for the general public.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
